Otoplasty can be the long-sought-after answer for those who are embarrassed by ears that they feel are too large or prominent for their head.
This short surgery reshapes and remodels the outer ear by setting them back, closer to the head or reducing their size. Otoplasty is generally done on children between the ages of 4 and 14 but there are no additional risks associated with ear surgery on the adult patient.
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or under general anesthesia. Most patients recover fully within a few weeks.
