A chemical peel is intended to improve skin texture and tone by removing the outermost layers of skin and dead skin cells. Most chemical peel procedures apply chemical solutions like trichloroacetic acid, alphahydroxy acids, and phenol to the face. At Plastic Surgery Experts we use TCA (trichloroacetic acid) and the special Obagi ‘blue peel.’ These peels work to reduce the appearance of facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation.

Who should consider the chemical peel:
If you exhibit rough or dry skin, have acne, pigment problems, sun damage, or wrinkles, you may benefit from a chemical peel.

During the procedure:
We apply the solution to the face and it penetrates the skin to varying depths, depending on the strength of the solution. The initial application may sting, but the feeling rapidly subsides. A single treatment will only take about 15 minutes.

The recovery period:
After the peel is done, you may experience redness, dryness and flaking, but it should not interfere with your life and normal activities. It will take about 7 days for your new skin to emerge. After full healing has taken place, your skin should have a fresh, new, healthy glow!
